Dear all, the shed is going forward and at the right pace, (28 inches) our membership is increasing and more projects are coming to us. We have had lots of interest and businesses are asking questions to try and help, there is also interest from the council and local government bodies (more on that when we confirm). We have built a shed for a lady, cleaned the war memorial, painted a local sign, put up shower curtains and sports netting, located the soldiers graves in the cemetery, been allotted work on a local field for a long term project with the church, been asked to meet the community council to discuss projects such as the picnic benches near the club. What does this mean? well, it has increased the profile of the vets shed and people are really being proactive to us, the church have cleared the field and we can now put our container on there when we are ready, as a community workshop and store. I have had several calls for assistance, one guy is homeless and I am going to meet him soon. A ex Welsh Guards Warrant Officer is donating some army sleeping bags and bivvies etc for when we want to have a week end at Colin and Derek's paintball sight on Anglesey. We can now meet Wednesday PM 1-3 or Wed PM 1900-2130, and on Tuesdays at 1000 is our project day and on the 10th May at 1000 we are going to paint the Youth and Community Clubs toilets. Dan Thomas, an former Royal Marine and a fitness instructor with Commando X Fit is looking to have a club going at our shed and give advice to any vet who is looking at losing a few pounds and for a couple of squid, have a circuit set up for the veterans. Colin and John are looking at lapel badges and business cards for us. We have had a variety of equipment donated to help with projects and currently have about £1000 in the funds which is awesome. There are outside agencies willing to help us and we must not lose this momentum. I ask you all to forward this to anyone who you may think could help or we could help. We are an arm of men's shed and we intend to use their facilities and keep up our working relationship with these guys who have helped us no end, we also intend to help them should they ask for our assistance, they have been a rock to us and we are very grateful for that. Please read our web site that John Johnson update when possible veteranshed.com@weebly again please pass it on and share on you face book or media sight. Finally I would be grateful if you have any concerns or problems to contact myself Martin on 07872382136 or John Johnson on 07968441731 as we are about to set up a welfare sub committee if you are interested. Be good, dig the heels in (not high heels Colin) and look up, you may see a couple of Paratroopers coming your way best regards, Marty M
